Driving with medical conditions

There are a number of medical conditions that are of particular importance to the DVLA in determining your medical fitness to hold  class 2 licence. The medical standards are revised twice yearly and take into account legal requirements, as well as the risks to the driver and others of certain medical conditions. The notes on these pages reflect our understanding of the rules, but reference should be made to DVLA in individual circumstances.

The medical particulary looks at:
  • Visual standards
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease and circulation problems
  • Epilepsy
  • Sleep disorders
  • Significant mental health problems
  • Complications or side effects of treatment
