Visual standards

The visual standards required for the D4 medical have changed recently. They require vision to be 6/7.5 in the better eye, and 6/60 in the worse eye. In addition there are restrictions on how strong your glasses are allowed to be (no greater than +8.0). If you need glasses for driving we may need to check the strength of your lenses against your latest prescription. Without this we may not be able to fully complete the vision checks at your medical.

If you have a condition that affects your field of view (for example diabetes, glaucoma or a family history of glaucoma), DVLA may require you to have a formal visual filed test. If you have had one done recently and have a copy of the results then it will be useful to bring this with you.
